In crisis there is opportunity.

I’ve been an illegal immigrant myself. Perhaps I can offer you some nuanced encouragement.

When I lived in Colombia I was fortunate to befriend this really great guy named Diego. He taught me to speak Spanish actually. He had grown up in Florida and repatriated to Colombia as an adult.

He had an American hustle and latino sabor

He had a great Entrepreneurial ingenuity and creativity that really allowed him to excel and be a pillar of the community there in Medellin.

It’s really unfortunate that your parents did something very illegal a long time ago which the corrupt US politicians enabled. Sometimes life throws you one hell of a curveball — you can sulk and complain about it online for the next 8 years, you live in constant suspense, in fear of every knock at your door — or you can make the most of it.

There is great opportunity for illegal immigrants like you to bring their English fluency and American values back to enrich their home culture.
