Where Wabi is Accepted Locally and Globally

Wabi makes Chinese products more honest, it’s the token powering the Taeltech product-verification ecosystem while providing valuable marketing insights to manufacturers. The Wabi token is even accepted by businesses outside China as payment, from Moonboy Merch, a Made in California crypto-inspired fashion brand to a UK-based sterling silver jeweler.

Who accepts Wabi…

Are you an Entrepreneur, freelancer, or manager of a business accepting cryptocurrency?

Should you buy Wabi?

Wabi is no “vaporware” project, it’s blockchain tech being used to solve real-world problems. Let’s say you’re a rich guy buying his wife a $2000 luxury brand purse, you would want to make sure you’re not buying a knock-off right? What if you were that brand selling $2000-purses, while scammers were selling $40 knock-offs? There’s clearly a lot of need for unhackable product verification. Another use-case is organic products; you know you should be choosing organic food and personal products but how do you really know if it’s actually organic? How many products just slap an “organic” label on their (mediocre) products’ packaging and just double their price? Taeltech will make it possible to verify consumables from the farmer’s field to your shopping cart…

BUY WABI

Shortly after it was launched in 2017, the token reached $5 and then crashed badly, since then its price has languished below a dollar. It is unclear whether this token will grow in value.

Wabi is based in and focused on serving China, where everything from infant formula to booze is counterfeited, so I’m sure there’s a lot of need for product verification. But, I’d be wary of blockchain projects that must stay on the good side of the Chinese government. The founders of Wabi are two European guys, supported by a mostly Chinese team, what are the odds that cheating Chinese manufacturing magnates (likely members of the Chinese party communist members) will not appreciate these two foreigners exposing counterfeit products? Call me a chauvinist but I’d have a lot more faith in this well-intentioned project if it was based in the west.

About Wabi

As far as I can tell, they started as Wabi, rebranded to Tael, and then re-rebrand to Wabi. Hopefully, they’ve finally figured out what to call themselves.

Wabi connects Brands and Consumers, enabling a seamless and fair exchange of value. It is the fuel of underlying Taeltech Ecosystem.

Consumers take advantage of tools designed to better inform consumption choices and are incentivized with Wabi points. They redeem the points at a dedicated Marketplace for thousands of quality products.

Brands leverage Wabi to obtain unique insights on consumer behavior driving superior marketing and strategic decisions. Furthermore, the Brands incentivize users with Wabi to generate new data, enabling agile hypothesis testing and iteration.

Effectively, Wabi taps into corporate marketing budgets ($1.6 — $1.9 trillion annually), making marketing a lot more efficient for participating Brands.

From About WABI — in under 200 seconds

Tael (WABI) describes itself as a digital token used in the Tael ecosystem of consumer products. Consumer goods inside the ecosystem are secured from counterfeit attempts through banking-level, tamper-proof NFC smart-labels, which are linked to their digital representations on the blockchain.
