Where Zcash is Accepted Locally and Globally

ZEC is a leading altcoin that has much in common with Bitcoin and it’s attractive to many being a privacy coin. Over 700 businesses accept it, from Swedish reindeer jerky (that sounds tasty, doesn’t it?) to American internet freedom activist organizations.

It’s even been praised by Edward Snowden

“Zcash for me is the most interesting right now, because the privacy properties of it are truly unique, but we see more and more projects that are trying to emulate this and I think this is a positive thing,”

Who Accepts Zcash

Should you buy Zcash?

There’s going to be sustained demand for privacy coins as more and more consumers and businesses will want to do commerce outside of the gaze of the snooping eyes of the government and banks. ZEC characteristics (decentralized, fixed hard cap, halvening cycle, and longevity) are going to continue to make it attractive to cryptocurrency purists. Monero is the leading privacy coin, but I might argue that Zcash is a better investment as it has a fixed supply.

But with privacy coins, there’s always the risk that the government might decide that they don’t want people doing commerce with total privacy and ban them.

Are you an Entrepreneur, freelancer, or manager of a business accepting cryptocurrency?

About

Zcash is an implementation of the Decentralized Anonymous Payment scheme Zerocash, with security fixes and adjustments to terminology, functionality and performance. It bridges the existing transparent payment scheme used by Bitcoin with a shielded payment scheme secured by zero-knowledge succinct non-interactive arguments of knowledge (zk-SNARKs). It attempts to address the problem of mining centralization by use of the Equihash memory-hard proof-of-work algorithm. This specication denes the Zcash consensus protocol and explains its differences from Zerocash and Bitcoin.

From the abstract of the Zcash whitepaper

Zcash is a cryptocurrency aimed at using cryptography to provide enhanced privacy for its users compared to other cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. Zcash is based on Bitcoin’s codebase. It shares many similarities such as a fixed total supply of 21 million units.
